Public School Information
Short Hills also has three K-5 elementary schools, all part of the Millburn Township Public Schools, the Deerfield Elementary School, Glenwood Elementary School and Hartshorn Elementary School. A fourth elementary school in the area, the Short Hills School, was closed and sold off during the population dropoff in the 1980s. Students move on to complete their education at the Millburn Middle School for grades 6-8 and Millburn High School for grades 9-12.

Far Brook School is a private, nonsectarian coeducational day school located in the Short Hills section of Millburn, serving students in nursery through eighth grade. The school has a total enrollment of 197 students.

Millburn Township, and the neighborhoods of affluent Short Hills, is renowned for its top ranked public schools, close proximity to New York City and its lovely tree-lined streets with beautifully maintained older colonial homes. Millburn-Short Hills is home to many executives in the financial sector who commute from town by either one of the two train lines that service our area, the Midtown Direct and Hoboken lines. Residents can use either the Short Hills or Millburn train station which are within blocks of many neighborhoods in town.

Downtown Millburn offers many clothing boutiques, jewelry stores, restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream parlors, a movie theater and of course the Paper Mill Playhouse. The quaint village in Short Hills features the post office, Station Stop which sells newspapers, magazines, drinks, snacks and candy, school supplies and cards, a deli, a cleaners and the Short Hills Pharmacy.

Short Hills is a section within Millburn Township. They have separate zip codes but are part of the same township and have the same school system. Short Hills is situated north of Millburn Avenue, west of South Mountain Reservation and bordered east by Route 24 and Summit. Millburn is located in the areas around downtown Millburn, south of Millburn Avenue and along Wyoming Avenue bordering Maplewood.
